Creating a Resources Link - help please?

I've been going cross-eyed for the last few millenia  hours trying to work out how I can start building a resources link on my journal (for example, I've just downloaded some textures that I'll use later to make some icons and I'd like to be able to put a link to the clever sausage who made them somewhere!)

I've seen resources links on other journals but I can't for the life of me find a way to put one on mine ... maybe its the theme I'm using, I don't know.  Same for loading my fic on LJ ... no idea!  (I'm guessing, perhaps wrongly, it's the same method?)

Can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial or something to help me do these things?  I'd really appreciate it.

All I did was made a normal post with all my resources stuff in it, then once posted copied the url of the post and put it in the links section of customize your journal, giving it title resources.

Eventually the post moves down as you post above it, which hides it, but you can always access and edit it via the link (it'll be in your sidebar).

Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

Oh you are a darling - thank you! Yes, that all worked fine - phew! Who knew it was as easy as that?! I think sometimes I make things harder for myself by just not asking - damned independent streak!!

Do you post fics the same way?? (see, I'm learning to ask!)

Yes, exactly the same way, although I put a cut in to save my friend's friend lists from being taken over. I can't recommend enough using Firefox and downloading the 'Livejournal Hook' btw - if you use that and the html tab whenever you post an entry, it puts all that formatting in for you with a simple right-click menu.

(Doesn't work in comments though, just entries)

It's all a little overwhelming at first, isn't it? You'll get there!

I should say with fics I have a master list to link mine to, but if you don't want to do that you can rely on tagging them all with fanfiction, or whatever.

I'll check your fic out with a new (geekie, not fangirl!) eye ... master list sounds the way to go (once I work out how to do it - LOL!)

Totally; I get so far, then have to go do other things with my brain. By the time I come back, it's back to the bottom of that learning curve!

Not to worry - to quote an old Sara Lee ad - it won't happen over night, but it will happen!! :)
